What lights up your life?

After every winter comes the summer.  After night comes the dawn.  And after every storm, there comes clear, open skies’

– Samuel Rutherford.

2020 sure has been an unusual kind of year so far!
No one could have predicted it would look like this and I have no doubt that we will all be very different people by the end of the year, compared to who we were when the year began.

However, as with all events in life – we just have to surrender and follow the flow.  Just like the turning of the wheel of the year – we can’t stop day becoming night and summer evolving into winter….the best thing we can do is literally go with the flow and make the most of what is being presented to us.

In the Southern Hemisphere, we recently reached a turning point in the year: last week marked the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of 2020.  Believe it or not, we have therefore already passed through our darkest time and our longest night of the whole year.

While we still have many months before we get to embrace the full warmth of the summer sun, we can safely say that we have already somewhat experienced our descent into the underworld.  From here on forth we are travelling once again towards the light.  In some ways we are out the other side of the birth canal (or at least very close!) and can rest assured that the darkest days are behind us.

But we must remember this collective rebirth we are tending to in the world just now, just like any birth, can be messy.  It can be awkward.  It can be vulnerable.  And many of us are learning to find our way in a new world, which takes time.  Sometimes we fall down.  Sometimes we don’t know what to do.  Sometimes we need to throw a tantrum.

It may be scary navigating new territory or a new way of being…..however just like any soul who has come into this world, over time you will learn the things you need to learn to thrive in life.  You will find support through friends and family.  You will discover talents you didn’t know you had.  You will learn and grow and find your path.  You may even have some fun along the way!

As you journey through the heart of winter, where possible use this time wisely to understand the needs of your soul.  We have already had some preparation by being forced to spend more time in our own company, without our usual social distractions.  This might just allow us to sit quietly with our soul this winter and hear what we really need to prioritise moving forward.

The stillness of winter has the opportunity to bestow great wisdom upon us.  All around us is naturally more dormant.  Nature has been winding down.  There is less activity, more tranquility.  It’s an opportunity to ‘turn down’ the noise around you and listen:  What warms you?  What lights up your life?  What helps your spirit shine?

When you hear the answers to these potent questions in the dark of winter, may you find the path of your passion.  May you discover what puts the spark in your step and find a way to make it part of your life.  May you understand how you can nourish your soul at the deepest level to fulfill your being to the very core.

I’m sorry for those who have been unwell, who have been unable to visit their loved ones, or have lost their jobs from this world-wide crisis.  I know all over the world we have all been affected in some way, shape or form.

Sometimes things in life don’t go as planned.  However, over time as we adjust to a new way of being, we may begin to find some gifts in the changes that have been thrust upon us….and use this opportunity to rebuild our lives in a more nourishing way.

If you would like some support to help bring balance, energy and confidence back into your life during these tricky times, remember kinesiology and bodywork are powerful tools to help during any transformation.  To support your wellbeing on all levels, I am also offering any bookings before the end of July ONE MONTH FREE access to online yoga and meditation classes with Awaken Yoga Studio (more details below).

Wishing you many blessings on this journey and may many gifts begin to be revealed to you.  xx
